Here is another incident proving that our city is becoming unsafe for women. A medical student was repeatedly harassed and threatened in Chennai by a Tamil actor’s Son.

Mithun Srinivas, 23, Son of a tamil movie actor, Bhuvaneshwari , is a third- year law student  has been accused and arrested for harassing and stalking a girl. He twice attempted very dangerous acts against the girl, says sources.

At first he initiated to set the house on fire, by pouring kerosene all over her house, but fortunately he was chased away by the girl’s family and neighbours. Later he smashed the CCTV cameras installed at her residence, over security fears.

Mithun, who resides at Angel Street, valasaravakkam, with his mother, and the girl went to the same school after which the girl enrolled for Medical course and the guy applied for Law course in a college in Katankulathur, in the Outskirts of the city.

According to reports, though they were initially friends, the girl cut ties after learning that Mithun had a criminal case against him. But he persisted, and even after finishing school, he continued to harass her by posting messages on social media platforms.

“As she kept avoiding him, he went to her house in Tirumangalam two months ago and threatened to pour kerosene on her and even tried to set her house ablaze,” inspector M Ravi told ToI.

Mithun has been booked under Sections 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 448 (punishment for house trespass), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 506 (i) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (penalty for harassment of women).

Apparently, Mithun was married to a Sri Lankan woman but her parents approached to end the marriage. Also he the threatened the girl by saying that is she denied his proposal, she would have to face issues just like Swathi.
