Popular singer Chinmayi Sripaada has accused veteran Tamil lyricist-poet Vairamuthu by alleging that she was asked to “cooperate” and visit him in a hotel but she refused.

In the wake of #MeToo movement, there are plenty of other women who have accused Vairamuthu on the basis on anonymity. But singer Chinmayi chose to tweet. She has recalled an incident that a concert organiser asked her to “cooperate” and visit Vairamuthu in his hotel room. She said this happened in 2005 or 2006.

In 17 years not one man in the industry across languages Hindi Tamil Telugu Malayalam Kannada Marathi has misbehaved.

Not one man has indecently messaged me or touched me.

My work place is mostly clean save for some bad apples.

I call Vairamuthu (Sir) out alone and I dare.

We sang. We went to Switzerland. We performed.

Everyone left. Only my mother and I were asked to stay back.

The organizer(I dont remember his name) asked me to visit Vairamuthu sir in a hotel in Lucerne.

I asked why. He told me to cooperate. I refused. We demanded to be sent back to India. He said ‘You wont have a career!’

My mother and I both put our foot down, career vendam mannum vendam. Demanded an earlier flight to India and came back.

Siddhath, who is active on social media and speaks on relevant and important issues like the Kerala floods, encouraging people to quit smoking or promoting Tamil cinema, decided to tweet about this too.

He has come out in support of women who have allegedly accused Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu of making sexual advances. In a series of tweet, he wrote,

Now the actor got tensed and lashed out on the leaders who stopped the IPL matches that were supposed to be held in Chennai Chepauk in last season. As they came front to stop the matches infront of the stadium why won’t they are making their presence in this issue is what Siddharth stating here.

The actor wrote “Vandhu #CSK match niruthunga. Neengalaam adhukku dhaan seri varuveenga. Paper tigers. Karuthu when it supports your Karuthu. Indha naadum naattu makkalum naasama pogannu sariya dhaan sonnaaru. #MeToo”

His statement roughly translated as “Come stop the matches of #CSK. You guys are apt for that only. Paper tigers. Raising voice only if the issues support your ideology. He rightly said that this country and its people should go in vain”
