Police arrested one of the two accused who killed a 35 year old man for harassing a 8-year old minor girl. The incident happened in Pudhukottai district, near Aranthangi, on Sunday night.

The victim was allegedly a pedophile who repeatedly harassed small girls in the locality. A complaint against him for sexually harassing a 8-year-old girl in an isolated place is still pending for investigation.

Kalidass and Kasi Viswanathan who are 26 and 34 years old respectively, intercepted Sakthivel on Sunday night according to a report in The News Minute.  Police report says that Sakthivel had misbehaved with the relatives of the duo which lead them to confront against him.

As the argument between the three turned into physical violence, Sakthivel has been attacked by Kalidass and Kasi Viswanathan. He was kicked on his chest by the two persons. Sakthivel was rushed to the Avudaiyarkoil Government Hospital and later referred to the Pudukottai Medical College Hospital where he was declared brought dead. The police registered a case on a complaint lodged by the painter’s brother and arrested victim’s relative Kasi Viswanathan and were on the lookout for Kalidas.

“On Sunday night, Kalidas and Viswanathan intercepted Sakthivel near Adiyarkulam and picked up a quarrel and attacked him. Sakthivel collapsed on the spot,” a police officer said.

Similar incident  took place in Vilupuram in December. The residents of Kanai town caught a man who had kidnapped a three-year-old girl and taken her to a secluded area to sexually assault her. The man was beaten up black and blue by the villagers before police rescued him.

In July, Chennai police had arrested 17 people, mostly staffs of an apartment complex for sexually harassing a 12-year-old hearing impaired girl. The accused were allegedly sexually harassing the victim for over seven months before they were arrested by the police on the basis of complaint given by the girl’s parents.
