Taking its trademark parody culture to a new level, the poster features actor Shiva, the star of the comedy franchise, pulling an O Panneerselvam. Dressed in a crisp white shirt and veshti, Shiva sits meditating in front of a memorial, while a host of photographers click pictures of him in the background.

Tamizh Padam is a franchise which is directed by C.S Amudhan. It is released in theatres this Thursday. Last month the makers released a 40-second teaser that made us ROFL. In Tamizh Padam 2, the makers trolled several politicians and big wigs of Tamil cinema. Right from Rajinikanth to Ajith, the makers did not spare anyone. In the film, there are references of Tamil films like Vijay Sethupathi’s Vikram Vedha, Ajith’s Vivegam and Mankatha and Vijay’s Mersal and Thuppaki and Rajinikanth’s Kabali. Twitter is cracking up with the way the makers have trolled Kabali and Vivegam in this one.

It was 4 pm on Wednesday and time for the last of the tallest leaders in Tamil Nadu and the DMK patriarch Kalaignar Dr M Karunanidhi’s final journey to his place of rest. A gun-carriage drawn hearse bearing Karunanidhi’s coffin trudged through a sea of emotional mourners from Rajaji Hall in Chintadripet to the Anna samadhi at the Marina beach.

As the cortege moved down the Chintadripet-Wallajah Road, loud cries and grief hung heavy in the air in Chennai. While some attempted to move closer to the hearse, others simply waved their hands at their Kalaignar, one last time.
