Sameera Reddy is a former Indian actress who primarily starred in Hindi and Tamil films. She is very much known for her appearance in the movie Vaaranam Aayiram.

She became an overnight sensation in K-Town back in 2008. She forayed into Tamil cinema with Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Vaaranam Aayiram, which turned out to be a super hit film. Sameera Reddy quickly signed many other projects in Kollywood, like Vedi and Vettai.

The actress is quite active on social media since last few months and has been sharing her pregnancy photos. However, the pregnancy phase during her first child was a difficult one as she gained a lot of weight.

Talking about the same, Sameera said, “When I was pregnant for the first time, I could not believe how I gained so much weight. I was 102 from 70 kg because there were changes in hormones, medicines and injections.” The actress further spoke about how she imagined a very glamorous pregnancy like show in Bollywood films. However, her life turned upside down and she cancelled her plans to come back to movies again.”

Recently, Sameera was in news for her bold statements on online trolling and body shaming. Now, she has again turned a lot of heads with her latest comments about the film industry.

In an interview with Behindwoods, Sameera was asked what is that one thing she would like to change in the cinema industry. The actress said, “One thing that needs to change in the industry is expectations from women. I think there have been a lot of instances where I have been approached in inappropriate ways. Women should be looked at as much more than objects of glamour. We have a lot more to offer (sic).”

She also said, “This is one thing that will take a long time to change. I also feel that women and men are given a lot of unequal weight. And that’s just the way it is in the industry. One day, if we could change that, it would be good. And I think we are slowly taking baby steps towards that, little by little (sic).”

Sameera is currently in a happy phase and speaks about how she has realized who her real friends are in the film industry.

 Sameera Reddy was missing from action ever since she married businessman Akshai Varde in 2014 and bid goodbye to acting. The couple had a son in 2015, and now, the actress is pregnant with her second child. Sameera is currently looking forward to welcoming her second child with Akshai.
