Close on the heels of Kamal Haasan hosting Bigg Boss, now comes big strs like Vishal, Prasanna and Varalaxmi to television.

Remember in the past Sarathkumar (Kotteswaran) Prakashraj, Suriya and Arvind Swami (Neengalum Vellalm Oru Kodi), Thanga Vettai (Ramya Krishnan), Jackpot (Khushbu and Simran) appeared in Tamil TV channels to host shows.

One of the main reasons why film actors venture into the small screen is the extensive, all-inclusive reach the medium offers because of the widespread co-viewing practice followed in our households. According to a recent report from Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), which represents Broadcasters, Advertisers, and Advertising and Media Agencies, 97% of India still owns single TV in their households including 77% of large, affluent joint families.

“Viewers in South spend higher time on TV than viewers in HSM (Hindi Speaking Markets). While the average daily time spent on television is nearly four hours in the south, it’s three hours and thirty minutes in HSM. Contrary to popular perception, viewership is highest amongst youth (15-30) even in the digital age,” the report read.

Actor Prasanna is hosting a show called ‘Soppana Sundari’ in Sun Life. To be aired once a week, the show provides a platform for aspiring models. Remember Prasanna hosted Sarkar audio launch for Sun TV recently.

Soppana Sundari is a reality television series. The show will be based on the world-famous TV show “America’s Top Model”. The content is designed to be glamorous with the presence of Kollywood celebs and the show will have lots of edgy moments among the contestants to create the excitement to hold the attention of millennial audiences. The show is a modeling contest and it will revolve around 10 beautiful girls. It helps to build their career in the modeling industry. Already similar shows are being aired on other competitor channels but Sun TV will make it unique by setting a different standard for it.

Contestants will be given the task related to photo shoots, and walking on the challenging ramp. They will battle it out to win the coveted crown. The show is hosted by actor Prasanna. Sakshi Agarwal & Parvathi Nair are the mentors to 10 models of the show. The show will be aired on Sun Life channel from 07 October 2018.

Sun TV Network’s second Tamil GEC (General Entertainment Category)Sun Life launched on 7 October and the show was being telecasted in it.

In a latest episode actor Sivakarthikeyan attended the show as special guest. On seeing this social media users remembered the scene where once Prasanna attended a show as special guest which was hosted by Sivakarthikeyan back in Vijay TV.
